moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO .__75 -2 g F_
RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSED HENNEPIN COUNTY
DECENTRALIZATION OF SERVICES CONCEPT
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Office of Planning and Development has
developed a decentralization of services proposal which has been approved in
concept by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the proposal provides for the establishment of six multi-
service centers in Hennepin County; and
WHEREAS, the northwest suburban area is among the first priorities for
development of such centers; and
WHEREAS, it is proposed that each center will offer a group of core services
including financial assistance service, applications and eligibility for medical
assistance, applications and certification for food stamps, information referral and
outreach services, social case work and group work services, and probation services;
and
WHEREAS, it is optional that each center can offer a number of supplementary
services that are appropriate to the needs of the area; and
WHEREAS, it has long been conceived and is currently proposed that the
multi service centers should be co- located adjacent to regional libraries at the
Southdale, Ridgedale, and Brookdale regional shopping centers in suburban Hennepin
County on the basis that such locations are regionally and readily identifiable and
that such locations are intended as hubs of planned metropolitan public transportation
systems;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center to strongly endorse and support the proposed Hennepin County
decentralization of services concept and to direct the City Manager to participate
with Hennepin County officials and with other municipal officials in planning toward
the implementation of such a concept; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to endorse and support and urge the co- location
of the service centers at the regional libr u ban Henne in County.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Robert Jensen and upon vote being taken thereon the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar,
and Robert Jensen;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
