COMMUNICATIONS TASK FORCE MEETING
MARCH 30, 1993
CITY HALL
ATTENDANCE
Members Nelson, Keehr, Andrewjeski, and Benjamin. Also present
were Mayor Todd Paulson, Councilmember Dave Rosene, Communications
Coordinator Terri Swanson, and Personnel Coordinator Geralyn
Barone.
INTRODUCTION OF COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
The Communications Coordinator introduced herself to the task force
members, and members introduced themselves and provided their
backgrounds.
DISCUSSION
The task force members briefly discussed the status of the
promotional brochure and video, along with a review of the City of
Brooklyn Park's "Come Home To The Park" effort. It was suggested
that promotional videos of other communities be obtained. Member
Nelson suggested the audience be identified, and Member Benjamin
suggested new businesses, potential home buyers, realtors, and
current residents would all be potential audiences. The
Communications Coordinator suggested the best approach may be for
the task force to prepare a communications plan in order to put its
ideas together and set objectives. There was consensus by the task
force to do so, and the Communications Coordinator said she would
provide information to the members for the next meeting in order to
assist in developing these objectives. This will be used as a
basis for preparing the plan. It was suggested that the
Communications Coordinator contact representatives of the Brooklyn
Historical Society and the Brooklyn Center Chamber of Commerce to
obtain more information about the community.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the communications task force is scheduled for
April 21, 1993, at 7:00 p.m. in conference room A at city hall.
