HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-148 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74 -148 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING "SAFETY ON THE STREETS WEEK" IN BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the Women's Conference of the National Safety Council represents some 50 members at large and 60 national and international women's organizations with an outreach to 55 million women; and WHEREAS, the Women's Conference has recognized the need for, and initiated, a National Crusade to have Safety On the Streets; and WHEREAS, the Safety On the Streets Crusade represents an action oriented program for volunteers nationwide who marshal the human resources of their communities and public service, civic, fraternal and law enforcement agencies to have safe neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, program aspects of Safety On the Streets include automobile, bicycle, pedestrian, personal and school safety, with public support being urged for alcohol and drug countermeasures and national highway safety standards: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the week of September 29, 1974, through October 5, 1974, be proclaimed as "Safety On The Streets Week in Brooklyn Center in conjunction with the 20th Annual Meeting of the Women's Conference of the National Safety Council in the State of Minnesota, and in recognition of e outstanding contri- bution of volunteer womanpower united to h4YA he SbreAfts. September 9, 1974 Date Mayor ATTEST: L `Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Maurice Britts, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
