HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-090 CCR Member Robert Jensen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74 -90 RESOLUTION REGARDING DISPOSITION OF PLANNING COMMISSION APPLICATION NO. 73019 SUBMITTED BY CHARLES NOLAN WHEREAS, Planning Commission Application No. 73019 was submitted by Charles Nolan on April 27, 1973, requesting approval for an "E -Z Mini Storage" facility; and WHEREAS, the proposed site, known as Lot 4, Block 2 Northtown Plaza Second Addition and more commonly described as lying at the southeast quadrant of the intersection of 68th and Lee Avenues North, is zoned C -2 (Commerce); and WHEREAS, the concept was informally reviewed by the Planning Commission on March 1, 1973, and the application was given initial hearing on June 7, 1973 at which time it was tabled until the applicant submitted site and building plans which were in conformance with ordinance requirements; and WHEREAS, the application was reconsidered by the Commission on April 4, 1974 and action was taken recommending denial of the application upon determina- tion that the proposed use was not a permitted use in 'the C -2 District and was not similar in nature to other permitted uses in the C -2 District per Section 35 -322 (j) of the Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the petition was heard by the City Council on April 22, 1974 at which time the matter was tabled to permit further review of the proposal in its entirety, and 'to permit on -site inspection of similar facilities by individual Council members; and WHEREAS, the Application was reviewed on May 20, 1974 in terms of the requirements of Section 35 -322 and the nature of the proposed use; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center: Planning Commission Application No. 73019 submitted by Charles Nolan for E -Z Mini Storage is hereby denied in that: 1) The proposed use is neither a recognized permitted or special use in the C -2 District per Section 35 -322 of the Zoning Ordinance. 2) The proposed use is not deemed similar in nature to other recognized C-2 District uses per Section 35 -322 (j) of the Zoning Ordinance.
