RESOLUTION NO. 74 -19
RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PROVISIONS OF SENATE FILE NO. 2483
VESTING LICENSING AND CONTROL OF VENDING MACHINES WITH
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
WHEREAS, the sanitation control of food products dispensed by vending
machines has been effectively handled by local government through a licensing
program; and
WHEREAS, it is functionally inconsistent to place such licensing authority
with the State Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS, it has been amply demonstrated that the State Department of
Agriculture cannot and does not effectively monitor and control other programs
interfacing with local government over which said Department has authority:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center as follows:
1. The City Council opposes the concept embodied in Senate
File No. 2483 which purports to vest the licensing and
control of vending machines under the jurisdiction of the
State Department of Agriculture.
2. The legislative representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center
are herewith called upon to oppose such legislation and the City
Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to
the aforementioned legislators, the chairman of appropriate
legislative committees, and to the Governor of the State of
Minnesota.
