HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-021 CCR i Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74 -21 RESOLUTION ENDORSING SENATE FILE NO. 2 616 REQUIRING STANDARD AND DISTINCT UNIFORMS FOR PRIVATE SECURITY GUARDS WHEREAS, situations occur wherein citizens contact City officials seeking redress from alleged perpetrations by law enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, investigation very often discloses that the allegations involve private security guards uniformed similar to sworn Brooklyn Center police officers; and WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary that citizens be able to distinguish such private security guards from sworn police officers: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. That the City Council endorses the concept embodied in Senate File No. 2616 requiring standard and distinctive uniforms for private security guards. 2. The legislative representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center are herewith called upon to support such legislation and the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the aforementioned legislators, the chairman of appropriate legislative committees, and to the Governor of the State of Minnesota. Tanuary 21. 1974 Date Mayor G L ATTEST: Cleric The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Robert Jensen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Bill Fignar, Tony Kuefler and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
