RESOLUTION NO. 74 -27
RESOLUTION ENDORSING CONCEPT OF CENTRALIZED STATE
ENERGY AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, national attention is focused upon the nation -wide energy
deficiency problem; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature is engaged in debate regarding
the most effective procedural method to address the energy deficiency problem
in the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, it appears that such debate revolves around the concept of
addressing the energy deficiency problem through the combined resources of
the various existing State departments and agencies vs. the concept of addressing
the problem through the creation of a centralized energy authority:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center as follows:
1. To endorse the concept of creating a centralized energy authority
on the basis that a high level of visibility, administrative clout,
and ability to respond to a changing situation can best be
accomplished through such a central authority.
2. The legislative representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center
are herewith called upon to support legislation embracing such
a concept and the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies
of this resolution to the aforementioned legislators, the chairman
of the appropriate legislative committees and to the Governor of
the State of Minnesota.
