HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-027 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74 -27 RESOLUTION ENDORSING CONCEPT OF CENTRALIZED STATE ENERGY AUTHORITY WHEREAS, national attention is focused upon the nation -wide energy deficiency problem; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature is engaged in debate regarding the most effective procedural method to address the energy deficiency problem in the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, it appears that such debate revolves around the concept of addressing the energy deficiency problem through the combined resources of the various existing State departments and agencies vs. the concept of addressing the problem through the creation of a centralized energy authority: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. To endorse the concept of creating a centralized energy authority on the basis that a high level of visibility, administrative clout, and ability to respond to a changing situation can best be accomplished through such a central authority. 2. The legislative representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center are herewith called upon to support legislation embracing such a concept and the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the aforementioned legislators, the chairman of the appropriate legislative committees and to the Governor of the State of Minnesota. February 4, 1974 Date Mayor ATTEST: A ClerK' The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Fignar and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Tony Kuefler and Bill Fignar; and the following voted against the same: Maurice Britts, not voting: Robert Jensen; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
