moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 74 -30
RESOLUTION ENDORSING LEGISLATION AUTHORIZING EXERCISE
OF EMINENT DOMAIN WITH RESPECT TO HAZARDOUS BUILDINGS
WHEREAS, it is often possible to physically remedy the hazardous
condition of hazardous buildings; and
WHEREAS, through eminent domain proceedings many such hazardous
buildings could be remedied thereby preserving existing housing stock:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center as follows:
1. The City Council endorses legislation which would authorize a
municipal governing body to exercise eminent domain powers in
correcting the hazardous condition of any hazardous building.
2. The City Council urges that the hazardous building statutes be
amended to provide for a maximum of 8% annual interest on costs
assessed in correcting hazardous building situations.
3. The legislative representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center
are herewith called upon to support such legislation and the City
Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to
the aforementioned legislators, the chairman of appropriate
legislative committees, and to the Gove or of the State of
Minnesota.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Maurice Britts and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts Bill Fignar,
Tony Kuefler and Robert Jensen;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
