HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-106 CCR Member Maurice Britts introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74 -106 RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 73 -133 WHICH AUTHORIZED PARTICIPATION IN THE METROPOLITAN RATE AUTHORITY; DIRECTED THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT; DESIGNATED A REPRESENTA- TIVE OF THE CITY AS ITS MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF THE METROPOLITAN RATE AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center City Council determined it necessary and desirable that the City cooperate with other municipalities in the regulation of utility service in the metropolitan area through a Metropolitan Rate Authority as authorized in Resolution No. 73 -133; and WHEREAS, said Metropolitan Rate Authority never became effective inso- much as Northern States Power did not execute the franchise and the requisited percentage of municipalities did not execute the joint powers agreement; and WHEREAS, the 1974 Minnesota Legislature passed the Minnesota Public Utilities Act, Chapter 429, Laws 1974, which set up statewide regulations of public utilities: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Brooklyn Center City Council that Resolution No. 73 -133 which authorized participation in the Metropolitan Rate Authority; directed the execution and delivery of a joint powers agreement; and designated a representative of the City as its member to the Board of the Metropolitan Rate Authority is hereby repealed, July 8, 1974 Date Mayor i ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Robert Jensen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
