RESOLUTION NO. 78_1gj
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING CONTRACT FORM
(CONTRACT 1973 -I)
WHEREAS, the City Clerk and the City Engineer have reported
that on November 19, 1973, at 10 :00 o'clock A.M., central standard
time, they opened and tabulated bids received for Contract 1973 -I,
comprehending the construction of Storm Sewer Site Improvement
Project No. 1973 -38, and that said bids were as follows:

1) Minn -Kota Excavating, Inc. $20,690.00 $17,585.00
2) Orvedahl Construction, Inc. $23,065.00 $19,265.00
3) Alexander Construction Co., Inc. $26,430.00 $22,765.00
4) Northdale Construction Co., Inc. $28,520.00 $23,030.00
*Base bid includes turf restoration by sodding.
*Alternate bid includes turf restoration by seeding.
and
WHEREAS, a financial limitation of $19,867.04 exists for the
engineering and construction of said Project No. 1973 -38; and
WHEREAS, Suburban Engineering, Inc., has agreed to accomplish
the necessary engineering design and construction supervision for a
fee not to exceed $2,700.00; and
WHEREAS, the specifications for said Contract 1973 -I provide
for a variation in unit quantities without affecting the contract bid
prices; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends that the said project
can be constructed within the said financial limitation with the
following conditions:
1) That the alternate bid providing for turf restoration by
seeding be accepted;
2) That the unit quantities be controlled by Suburban
Engineering, Inc., so that the final construction cost
by Minn -Kota Excavating, Inc., shall not exceed $17,167.04.
RESOLUTION NO. 73 -193
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows:
1) That the alternate bid of Minn -Kota Excavating, Inc.,
in the amount of $17,585.00, as to furnishing of all
work, labor, and material in connection with Storm Sewer
Corrective Site Improvement Project No. 1973 -38 (with
seeding alternate), according to the plans and specifi-
cations therefor now on file in the office of the City
Clerk, is deemed to be the lowest and best bid submitted
for said work by a responsible bidder, and said bid is
hereby accepted.
2) That Suburban Engineering, Inc., is hereby directed to
control the unit quantities, so that the final con-
struction cost by Minn -Kota Excavating, Inc., shall not
exceed $17,167.04.
3) That the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized
to execute a contract with said bidder for said improve-
ment project.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by member Bill Fignar and upon vote being taken
thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John
Leary, Bill Fignar and Tony Kuefler;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
