HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-198 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 73 -198 RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 1973 GENERAL FUND BUDGET WHEREAS, Section 7.08 of the City Charter of the City of Brooklyn Center does provide for the increase of a budget appropriation by the City Council if the actual receipts exceed the estimates; and WHEREAS, there was enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota, an act authorizing the summer employment of young persons for state and local government services, said act being Chapter 674, Session Laws 1973; and WHEREAS, said act authorized the placing in employment of young individuals up to 22 years of age for approximately 10 weeks for work periods not to exceed 30 hours per week per individual during each of the summers of the calendar years of 1973 and 1974 in local government units; and WHEREAS, on June 18, 1973, the City Council did authorize the Mayor and City Manager to execute an agreement with the State of Minnesota Department of Manpower Services to participate in the Department's Summer Youth Employment Program; and WHEREAS, the terms of the agreement provide that 12 -1/2% of the wages paid to individuals employed in the program is to be paid by the local government unit and that the State of Minnesota is to pay 87 -1/2% of the wages paid; and WHEREAS, the total wages paid by the City of Brooklyn Center under the program in 1973 was $7,423; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota's share of that program cost is $6,495: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the departmental appropriations in the 1973 General Fund Budget be increased as follows in the total amount of $6,495, said appropriations to be financed by the state grant: Government Buildings Labor (Account No. 409 -10) $1,257 Engineering Labor (Account No. 421 -10) 1,095 Street Construction Maintenance Labor (Account No. 422 -10) 1,050 Recreation, Children's Programs Labor (Account No. 474 -3) 1,186 Recreation, Community Center Labor (Account No. 474 -5) 757 Parks Recreation (Maint.) Labor (Account No. 472 -10) 1,150 RESOLUTION NO. 73 -198 G November 20, 1973 Date Mayor Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Fignar, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Maurice Britts Bill Fignar and Tony Kuefler; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
