HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-202 CCR Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 73 -202 RESOLUTION FINDING AND DECLARING THE NEED FOR AND ESTABLISHING A HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO FUNCTION IN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center has met to consider the establishment of a Housing and Redevelopment Authority pursuant to the provisions of the Minnesota Housing and Redevelopment Act, Minnesota Statutes, Section 462.411 et seq.; and WHEREAS, notice of public hearing has been published in the official newspaper rsuant to provision of Minnesota Statutes, P Section 462.425 and an opportunity to be heard has been granted to all residents of the City of Brooklyn Center and to all other interested persons; and WHEREAS, facts have been submitted to the City Council showing that there is a need for a Housing and Redevelopment Authority to function in the City of Brooklyn Center: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Brooklyn Center City Council that pursuant to the Minnesota Housing and Redevelopment Act, the City Council hereby finds, determines, and declates: 1. There is a need to prevent substandard, slum and blight areas in Brooklyn Center which could not be redeveloped without government assistance; 2. There is a need to prevent a situation where adequate housing accommodations would not be available to veterans or servicemen and their families; 3. There is a shortage of decent, safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations available to persons of low income and their families at prices they can afford; 4. There is a need for a Housing and Redevelopment Authority to function in the City of Brooklyn Center and said need continues to exist. Resolution No. 73 -202 December 3, 1973 Date Mayor ATTEST: C✓4 T Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary Al and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts John Leary, Bill Fignar and Tony Kuefler; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said.resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
