Member Maurice Britts introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 7 '1-26
RESOLUTION CREATING FIRE INSPECTOR POSITIONS AND ADJUSTING
THE SALARY OF THE DEPUTY FIRE MARSHALL
WHEREAS, by adopting the General Fund Budget for 1973, the City Council
did provide an appropriation of $2,700 for the annual salary of the position of
fire marshall and an appropriation of $900 for the annual salary of the position of
Deputy Fire Marshall; and
WHEREAS, on December 19, 1972, the City Council did adopt a 1973 salary
schedule setting the maximum monthly salary of the fire marshall at $225 and the
deputy fire marshall $75; and
WHEREAS, effective February 1, 1 973, the fire marshall did resign creating
a vacancy in the position; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of the Brooklyn Center Fire Department has submitted
a plan to reorganize the Fire Prevention Bureau whereby the Chief will assume the
position of fire marshall for no additional compensation, and two part -time fire
inspectors will be employed to assist the chief and the assistant deputy fire
marshall:
BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center to use the balance of the 1973 appropriation for the fire marshall's salary
to increase the deputy fire marshall's salary and hire additional fire inspectors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to fix the maximum salary of the deputy fire marshall
at $125 per month effective February 1, 1973; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to create the position of fire inspector I at a max-
imum monthly salary of $75 and the position of fire inspector II at a maximum monthly
salary of $40 effective February 1, 1973

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Maurice Britts, and Tony Kuefler;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
