Staff collaborated with property management to create a plan of action. 3Page 6 of 11 Compliance information •Staff opened 74 code enforcement cases •44 properties (59%) are in compliance •30 properties (41%) have bee sent notices •Staff received reports of creative ways in meeting compliance •Amazon, Etsy, other online retailers •Making it themselves out of wood, vinyl, or other materials •Using sign companies (usually more costly) •Cost reports are a couple hundred dollars to several thousand 4Page 7 of 11 Compliance information •City buildings •Public Works, Police Department, and West Fire have 12” numbers. •Other buildings are under review until further action from city council. •In recent conversations with the Police and Fire Chiefs, their preference is to have visible address numbers. 5Page 8 of 11 Potential Options Option 1: Remove the required address numbers. This would eliminate the current amended ordinance change. There are no standards in the building code, fire code requires 4” numbers similar to residential requirements. Option 2: Require 6” numbers. This is a slightly larger size than what’s required for single family homes and is a common size available at most hardware stores. 6Page 9 of 11 Potential Options Option 3: Standardize all Commercial numbers to 12 inches. This would eliminate the larger size requirements for multi-story buildings (currently 18 inches for two stories and 24 inches for three or more stories). 12 inch numbers are also more readily available online and in-stores. Option 4: No changes to the current ordinance. Staff would then restart enforcement. 7Page 10 of 11 Does the City Council have a preferred option? 8Page 11 of 11
