RESOLUTION NO. 73 -64 RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 73 -10 RELATING TO 1973 PARK DEPARTMENT AND STREET AND PUBLIC UTILITIES DIVISION WAGES WHEREAS, on December 19, 1972 the Brooklyn Center City Council adopted Resolution No. 72 -208 setting wages and salaries for the year 1973; and WHEREAS, provision was made in Resolution No. 72 -208 to defer setting certain 1973 wages pending wage negotiations; and WHEREAS, the City Manager on January 8, 1973 reported that a negotiating committee of the Metropolitan Area Management Association and a negotiating committee of Local #49 of the International Union of Operating Engineers were engaged in master contract bargaining and had reached tentative agreement on the wage portion of a master contract; and WHEREAS, upon the City Manager's recommendation the City Council adopted Resolution No. 73 -10 setting 1973 wages retroactive to January 1, 1973 for Local #49 members in the Park Department and Street and Public Utilities Division; and WHEREAS, the wages established in Resolution No. 73 -10 for those job classifications in the Local #49 bargaining unit are and traditionally have been $10 per month higher than the bargained wage rate for similar classifications in other jurisdictions, such $10 differential intended to compensate for the absence of an employer -paid hospitalization premium benefit; and WHEREAS, the contract agreement between the City of Brooklyn Center and its employees who are members of the Local #49 bargaining unit comprehends elimination of the $10 per month wage differential paid Brooklyn Center employees in favor of the provision that the City employer pay up to $12 per month toward the cost of coverage under the Brooklyn Center group hospital medical insurance plan for a bargaining unit employee and his eligible dependents: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to amend Resolution No. 73 -10 to the extent of setting wages for Local #49 bargaining unit members effective May 1, 1973 for the remainder of the calendar year as follows: 1 Resolution No. 73 -64 DEPARTMENT JOB TITLE STREET PARKS AND RECREATION Maintenance Man II 855 PUBLIC UTILITIES April 23, 1973 Date ATTEST: Heavy Equipment Operator 925 Light Equipment Operator 855 Chief Mechanic 940 Mechanic 925 Night Service Man 820 Maintenance Man Light Equipment Operator 855 ayor GRADE MONTHLY WAGE CLASSIFICATION OR HOURLY RATE 910 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Maurice Britts and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, and Bill Fignar; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was duly passed and adopted.
