HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-120 CCR1 1 Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 73 -120 RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO DETERMINE THE NEED FOR A HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO FUNCTION IN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the Minnesota Housing and Redevelopment Act, Minnesota Statutes, Section 462.411 ET SEQ., authorizes creation of a Housing and Redevelopment Authority in each municipality throughout the state and provides that such an Authority shall not transact any business or exercise its powers until the governing body of the municipality, by resolution, determines that there is a need for a Housing and Redevelopment Authority to function in that municipality; and WHEREAS, interest has been expressed in the City of Brooklyn Center for the establishment of a Housing and Redevelopment Authority: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Brooklyn Center City Council that on the 6th day of August, 1973 at 8:00 p.m. at the City Hall, 6301 Shingle Creek parkway, being the time and place of the next regular meeting of the City Council, this body shall determine: A. There is a need to prevent substandard, slum and blight areas in Brooklyn Center which could not be redeveloped without government assistance; B. There is a need to prevent a situation where adequate housing accommodations would not be available to veterans or servicemen and their families; C. There is a shortage of decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling accommodations available to persons of low income and their families at prices they can afford. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to cause notice of public hearing to be published in the official City newspaper to make sure all interested persons are aware of said meeting and able to present opinions and comments. 1 Resolution No. 73 -120 ATTEST: July 23, 1973 Date The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Bill Fignar, John Leary, and Tony Kuefler; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was decla red duly passed and adopted.
