HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-047 CCR r 4 Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 72 -47 RESOLUTION APPROVING PARTICIPATION BY LOCAL HOUSING OWNERS IN FEDERAL RENT SUPPLEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, developers known as Brooklyn Center Industrial Park, Inc. have prepared and coordinated with the City of Brooklyn Center a proposal for a twelve story, federally and locally subsidized housing- complex designed to serve low and moderate income people of all ages; and WHEREAS, the proposed project site is located immediately south of the Brooklyn Center Civic Center property appropriately zoned R -7; and WHEREAS, the proposal is determined to be consistent with the Brooklyn Center Comprehensive Plan and conveniently located with regard to a variety of support services; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 101 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to enter into contracts to make rent supplement payments to certain qualified housing owners on behalf of qualified low- income persons; and WHEREAS, the provisions of said Section 101 cannot be implemented unless the City Council specifically approves participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program;, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to approve participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program by the prospective developers of Shingle Creek Towers on property located west of Shingle Creek Pkwy. and immediately south of the Brooklyn Center Civic Center.
