HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-074 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 72 -74 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN BROOKLYN CENTER BUS SYSTEM FOR SUMMER, 1972 WHEREAS, operation of the Brooklyn Center Bus System is authorized through June 9, 1972; and WHEREAS, the service has been designated as a regular route of Dickinson Lines, Inc. and has utilized the services of Dickinson Lines at a rate of $7.50 per hour; and WHEREAS, the fare has been established at 25 with provision for compliance with the Metropolitan Transit Commission senior citizen free rider- ship policy; and WHEREAS, operational losses of the system have been jointly subsidized by the City of Brooklyn Center and the Metropolitan Transit Commission; and WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Brooklyn Center to provide continued and expanded local transit service at least through the summer months: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center: That the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to petition and enter into appropriate agreements with the Metropolitan Transit Commission relative to: 1. Continued and expanded service of the Brooklyn Center Bus System, operating 74 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, for the period of June 10, 1972 through September 2, 1972; 2. Participation by the Metropolitan Transit Commission in the joint subsidization of the projected operational losses, estimated not to exceed $4,000.00, with the maximum City share being 2, 000.00 for the period. RESOLUTION NO. 72 -74 May 8, 1972 Date Mayor ATTEST. 4 C lerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Maurice Britts; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
