moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 72 -137
RESOLUTION OPPOSING DEVELOPMENT OF THE MISSISSIPPI
RIVER ISLANDS
WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is interested in the preservation
of natural areas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center feels that the development of
the Mississippi River islands for any use will destroy the natural area; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi River islands abut the Brooklyn Center
City limits:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Brooklyn Center that:
The City of Brooklyn Center opposes any development on the
Mississippi River islands and urges that the islands be pre-
served in their present state as a unique natural area in the
Metropolitan area.
Be It Further Resolved, to support public acquisition of the
Mississippi River islands to as r natural tate preservation.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Maurice Britts;
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution
was declared duly passed and adopted.
