HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-232 CCR Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -232 RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF SPECIAL BOND REFERENDUM ELECTION OF DECEMBER 7, 1971 WHEREAS, the City Council met as a Canvass Board of the Election on December 7, 1971 with Mayor Philip Cohen, Councilman John Leary, City Manager Donald G. Poss and City Clerk Allen S. Lindman present and was called to order by Mayor Philip Cohen at 8:00 P.M.; and WHEREAS, the Mayor announced that the order of business consisted of the consideration of the returns of the election held December 7, 1971 and it was the report of the Canvass Board that ballots were cast on the bond referendum: "Shall the City of Brooklyn Center Borrow Money and Issue Its Negotiable Coupon Bonds in the Amount of Not to Exceed $800,000 for the Purpose of Providing Money for Acquisition and Betterment of an Ice Arena as follows: YES 801 NO 3,865 and WHEREAS, the Canvass Board adjourned at 9:30 P.M. December 7, 1971: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is hereby determined upon the foregoing canvass that the referendum question: "Shall the City of BrooklynCenter Borrow Money and Issue Its Negotiable Coupon Bonds in the Amount of Not to Exceed 800 000 for the Purpose of Providing Money for Acquisition and Betterment of an Ice Arena is declared to be resolved in the negative. December 13, 1971 Date Mayor ATTEST: lerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
