HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-132 CCR i Member Theodore Willard introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71-132 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN A METROPOLITAN COMMUNICATION UPGRADING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center recognizes the growth complexities of law enforcement and the need for sophisticated and rapid criminal information retrieval methods; and WHEREAS, the State Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, is submitting a Federal Grant application for funding of a metropolitan communication upgrading system that would meet such a need, and benefit the City of Brooklyn Center and other governmental agencies in the Twin City Metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, it is understood that the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will act as grantee for the metropolitan communication upgrading program, and administer the funds in behalf of the metropolitan users for the twelve month duration of the program; and WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that when federal support is no longer available for the program the City of Brooklyn Center accepts the total cost of the upgraded communication system on a pro -rated basis if we so desire to stay on the system; and WHEREAS, it is agreed that the City will pay approximately twenty -five per cent of the cost of its portion of the system, such cost to be based on total mileage pro- rated, premise charge, channel conditioning and hardware installa- tion; and WHEREAS, it is agreed that the City will accept rmnthly billing from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension based upon the above formula; and WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that the City will make maximum use of the available equipment and computer programs; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Brooklyn Center will participate in the metropolitan communications upgrading program and that the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Department of Public Safety, is hereby authorized and directed to execute such an agreement as requested by the Governor's Commission on Crime Prevention and Control to implement said grant.
