HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-093 CCR Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -93 RESOLUTION REGARDING CHAIRS FOR CIVIC CENTER WHEREAS, on January 18, 1971, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 71 -9 accepting furniture bids for the Civic Center and authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to execute contracts with various successful bidders; and WHEREAS, therein the City Council accepted the bid of Metropolitan Office Equipment Company in the amount of $6,678.52 for 412 Knoll stacking chairs; and WHEREAS, a contract dated January 25, 1971 was executed between the City of Brooklyn Center and Metropolitan Office Equipment Company, Inc. with the provision that the furniture must be delivered and installed for use by May 1, 1971; and WHEREAS, Metropolitan Office Equipment Company, Inc. in a communica- tion dated February 5 1971 submitted a deliver schedule indic a facto rY g Y shipping date of April 23, 1971 or sooner and an expected delivery date of May 3, 1971 or sooner; and WHEREAS, in a communication dated April 19, 1971, the District Representative of the furniture manufacturer notified the City of Brooklyn Center that delivery of the chairs will be delayed indefinitely due to a supplier' strike; and WHEREAS, the May 1, 1971 completion date established in the contract between the City of Brooklyn Center and Metropolitan Office Equipment Company, Inc, has been violated: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to cancel the contract with Metropolitan Office Equipment, Inc. in the amount of $6,678.52 for 412 Knoll stacking chairs. Date s' Mayor r ATTEST City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
