HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-116 CCR Member Vernon Ausen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO.71 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN PROPERTY INCLUDED IN THE CITY -OPEN SPACE APPLICATION WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center desires to acquire lands to be preserved for permanent open -space use, and has made application to the Federal Government for financial assistance therefor under Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961 as amended; and WHEREAS, on May 26, 1969, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 69 -242, authorizing the City to enter into a contract with the Federal Government for said financial assistance; and WHEREAS, the contract for said financial assistance, identified as Contract No. MINN. OSA -82 was executed by the City and the Federal Government on March 27, 1970; and WHEREAS, property described as Lots 5 and 6, Twin Lake Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, is held in fee simple by Phillip C. Norsen, said Lot being included among the parcels desired to be acquired and for which financial assistance has been requested as described above; and WHEREAS, on the 6th day of May, 1969, the City Planning Commission reviewed the proposed acquisition and thereupon adopted a resolution approving said acquisition and stating that such acquisition was in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan for the community; and WHEREAS, as required by regulations adopted by the Department of Housing and Urban Development applicable to land acquisitions under the aforementioned Title VII, two appraisals have been obtained, said appraisals being on file in the office of the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, pursuant to regulations adopted by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the purchase of said property has been negotiated for the sum of $300.00 per lot,,, said.sum. having received the prior approval of the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and WHEREAS, based upon the aforementioned appraisals, the City Council finds that the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, per lot is a fair sum to pay for the acquisition of fee simple title to the said property; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Brooklyn Center purchase real estate described as: Lots 5 and 6, Twin Lake Park, Hennepin County Minnesota, for the sum of $300.00 per lot. .RESOLUTION NO. 71 -116 Tune 14. :1971 Date ATTEST: c erle Mayor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was duly passed and adopted.
