HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-038 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -38 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF SENATE FILE 588 AND HOUSE FILE 655 INCREASING THE LENGTH OF TRUCKS PERMITTED ON FOUR LANE STATE HIGHWAYS WHEREAS, 'efficiency in transportion is vital to the economy of the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, Minnesota truck length laws are substantially more restrictive than the laws of the majority of other states; and WHEREAS, these variations affect efficiency in operations and result in increased transportation costs thereby putting Minnesota industry at a competitive disadvantage; and WHEREAS, the business and commercial economy of Brooklyn Center is highly dependent upon efficient and economical truck transportation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The City Council endorses and supports Senate File 588 and House File 655 which, when adopted, would authorize 65 -foot combinations of truck trailer, semi trailer and trailer to operate on four lane highways in the State of Minnesota. 2. The representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center are herewith called upon to support and work for the adoption of this legislation and the Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the aforementioned Representatives, the Chairmen of the appropriate legislative committees, and to the Governor of the State of Minnesota.
