HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-021 CCR Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption; RESOLUTION NO. 71 -21 RESOLUTION REQUESTING JUSTIFICATION OF AN $18, 000, 000 INCREASE IN CONSTRUCTION COST FOR HENNEPIN COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center overwhelmingly supported the bond issue of September of 1969 to construct General Hospital; and WHEREAS, the County Board assured the residents that the 25 million dollar bond issue as proposed would be adequate for the acquisition of land and construction of the facility; and WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board announced on January 11, 1971 1971 that an additional 18 million dollars would be needed to build the hospital as contemplated; and WHEREAS, the County Board on January 19, 1971 announced that another bond vote would be held on February 23, 1971 for the additional 18 million dollars r NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and the State of Minnesota request that the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners: 1. Postpone the proposed 18 million dollar bond issue for at least 30 days from the proposed date of February 23rd; 2. That the proposed 18 million dollar increase be fully explained and justified; 3. That prior committed suburban involvement in the planning of General Hospital be assured, and that said planning consider the involvement of health care services f r the subur January 25, 19 71 Date Mayor ATTEST:����� �f C erk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ause,n, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
