HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-059 CCR Member Theodore Willard introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 71 -59 RESOLUTION REGARDING TWIN LAKES JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the preservation of lakes and streams within the Shingle Creek Watershed involves the municipalities of Plymouth, Maple Grove, New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Robbinsdale, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, no single community acting individually could accomplish the preservation of the lakes and streams within the watershed; and WHEREAS, it is evident that pollution and diminishment of water resources have far reaching effects on the general ecology of the area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to declare its policy to be willing to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with other communities in the Shingle Creek Watershed for the general purpose of preserving the lakes and streams therein and for'the specific purpose of authorizing and administering professional studies of the stream and lake resources in the Shingle Creek Watershed. March 29. 1971 Date Mayor ATTEST: cel Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. l
