Member John Leary introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption;
RESOLUTION N0. -229
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE USED TRACTOR -DOZER
WHEREAS, pursuant to previous authorization the City Manager has
arranged for the rental of a "350" John Deere tractor -dozer to implement that
part of the Capital Projects Program relating to park and open space develop-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the market value of the
used tractor -dozer on May 11, 1970, the date of initial rental, amounted to
$6,900.00; and
WHEREAS, the rental rate for the used tractor -dozer amounts to
$600.00 per month; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the equipment has offered its sale for
the amount of $6,900.00 reduced by the aggregate of rental payments through
November 11, 1970 amounting to $3,600.00, plus $360.00; and
WHEREAS, according to such terms the net cost of the equipment
would amount to $3, 660. 00 on November 11, 1970; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that it will be necessary to
rent similar equipment during the 1971 construction season to continue the
implementation of the Capital Projects Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the estimated salvage
value of the subject tractor -dozer at the end of 1971 amounts to approximately
$5,000.00; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended to be economically prudent to purchase
the tractor -dozer effective November 11, 1970 and to subsequently recover
its salvage value upon completion of the Capital Projects Program:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Brooklyn Center to authorize the City Manager to accept the sale
offer for the subject "350" John Deere tractor -dozer with the necessary funds
therefor to be appropirated from the Capital

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Theodore Willard, and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary,
Vernon Ausen, and Theodore Willard;
and the following voted against the same. none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
