moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 70 -21
RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH BROOKLYN CENTER
POLICE ASSOCIATION AND SETTING 1970 POLICE SALARIES
WHEREAS, on December 30, 19 69 the Brooklyn Center City Council
adopted Resolution No. 69 -355 setting wages and salaries for the year 1970;
and
WHEREAS, provision was made in Resolution No. 69 -355 to defer setting
certain 1970 salaries until agreements were negotiated with certain personnel;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Negotiations Committee of the
Brooklyn Center Police Association on January 26, 1970 arrived at a tentative
1970 compensation agreement which was subsequently ratified by the Brooklyn
Center Police Association on January 27, 1970; and
WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center City Council has reviewed the terms of
the tentative agreement and concurs therewith:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to approve the 1970 Compensation Agreement between
the City of Brooklyn Center and the Brooklyn Center Police Association as follows:
1. The City of Brooklyn Center shall pay the employee
coverage cost of the existing group hospitalization plan.
2. College incentive payments shall be paid to qualifying
personnel at the rate of 45� per approved credit and at
the rate of $90 for a 4 -year degree.
3. Sergeants and investigator classifications shall be paid
at the rate of 1 -1/2 times normal pay for required court
appearances outside of assigned shift, with a minimum
of two hours at premium pay for such required appearances.
4. The "top patrolman" classification, normally attainable
after three years of service with the Department shall be
paid at the rate of $870 per month, sergeant and investigator
classifications at the rate of $966 per month, and the
lieutenant classification at the rate of $1009 per month.
5. Terms #1 through #4 shall be paid retroactive to January 1, 1970.
6.. Personnel assigned to work Thanksgiving Day shall be paid at
the rate of 1 -1/2 times normal pay.

7. The City of Brooklyn Center shall obtain and pay the premium
for a $5,000 term life insurance policy for each employee, to
be effective at the earliest possible date but not later than
May 1, 1970.
The City Manager is hereby directed to implement the terms of the proposed
agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to amend Resolution No. 69 -355 as follows:

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Vernon Ausen and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen,
Howard Heck and Theodore Willard;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
