RESOLUTION NO. 70 -33
RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 69 -355 BY SETTING
PARK DEPARTMENT AND STREET AND PUBLIC UTILITIES DIVISION
WAGES
WHEREAS, on December 30, 1969 the Brooklyn Center City Council
adopted Resolution No. 69 -355 setting wages and salaries for the year 1970; and
WHEREAS, provision was made in Resolution No. 69 -355 to defer setting
certain 1970 wages pending wage negotiations; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that a negotiating committee of
the Metropolitan Area Manager's Association and a negotiating committee of
Local #49 of the International Union of Operating Engineers has been engaged in
bargaining; since July, 1969; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that since November 7, 1969 the
negotiations were conducted with the assistance of a state mediator and that on
December 18, 1969 the negotiating committees unanimously agreed on a proposed
and tentative compensation package; and
WHEREAS, the agreed upon compensation package was subsequently
rejected by Local #49 membership and subsequently resubmitted to individual
municipal units for consideration; and
WHEREAS, at a negotiations committee meeting on February 25, 1970
the state mediator concurred that the mediation process had been exhausted despite
the fact that nine municipal units, including Brooklyn Center, had not ratified the
agreed upon compensation package; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Metropolitan Area Manager's
Association and the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council proceed
to enact the negotiated compensation package, retroactive to January 1, 1970:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to amend Resolution No. 69 -355 as follows:
