and moved its adoption:

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) HORIZONTAL
UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS FOR THE MUNICIPAL SERVICE GARAGE
WHEREAS, Section 6.05 of the City Charter of the City of
Brooklyn Center requires that the City Manager first obtain the
approval of the City Council prior to making or letting contracts
for the purchase of merchandise, materials, or equipment, or any
kind of construction work when the amount of such contract exceeds
one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), but is less than twenty -five
hundred dollars ($2,500.00); and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has obtained quotations on the
purchase of two (2) horizontal underground storage tanks for the
Municipal Service Garage, and has determined that the quotation
of Brown Minneapolis Tank 8 Fabricating Company in the amount of
$2,227.67 for one (1) 8,000 gallon, 8'x21'xl/4" horizontal under-
ground storage tank, and one (1) 10,000 gallon, 9'x21'xl/4" hori-
zontal underground storage tank is the best quotation submitted.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Brooklyn Center that the City Manager be authorized to contract
for the purchase of two (2) horizontal underground storage tanks
for the Municipal Service Garage in the amount of $2,227.67 from
Brown Minneapolis Tank 8 Fabricating Company. The above amount
shall be appropriated from the Capital Improvements Fund.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by member Vernon Ausen and upon vote being taken
thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen,
John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
