HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-057 CCR Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption; RESOLUTION NO. 70 -57 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT WHEREAS, on March 30, 1970 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 70 -38 approving specifications for a 1250 G. P.M. fire pumper and directing advertisement for bids; and WHEREAS, only one bid was received prior to the established bid receipt deadline, that bid being submitted by the American LaFrance Company; and WHEREAS, the bid comprehends a 1500 G. P.M. pumper as contrasted to the specified 1250 G.P.M. capacity; and WHEREAS, the bid contains certain specified options as follows: American LaFrance Custom 11 1000" with Continental "N" Engine and Specified Automatic Transmission $48,463.00 Deduct Alternate for "Straight" Transmission 4,007.00 Add Alternate for Diesel Engine 238.00; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports his recommendation that the above bid represents competitive prices; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the additional 250 G.P.M. capacity beyond the capacity specified costs approximately $500.00 and therefor represents a 20% increase in capacity at less than 2% increase in cost; and WHEREAS, accumulative rated pumping capacity is a prime factor in the determination of municipal fire ratings for insurance purposes: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the bid of American LaFrance in the amount of $48,701.00 for furnishing one (1) 1500 G.P. M. fire pumper with an automatic trans- mission as specified and with the diesel engine as proposed be accepted. Resolution No. 70 -57 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to authorize the Mayor and City Manager to execute a contract with said bidder. May 11, 1970 Date Mayor ATTEST.- -v- Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Theodore Willard and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Vernon Ausen, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
