RESOLUTION NO. 69 -147
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HOUSE FILE 1496 AND SENATE FILE
NO. 1223 RELATING TO UNFAIR DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES
WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center established a Human Rights
Commission on February 19, 1968; and
WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Human Rights Commission recently has
gone on record unanimously favoring all amendments to the Minnesota State Act
Against Discrimination with the exception of Sec. 9, Section 363.06, Subdivision
4, Amendment (4) pertaining to the filing of notices; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center supports the recommendation
of its Human Rights Commission; and
WHEREAS, House File No. 1496 and Senate File No. 1223 relating to
Unfair Discriminatory Practices would amend the Minnesota State Act Against
Discrimination;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center as follows
1. The City Council endorses and supports the adoption of House File
No. 1496 and Senate File No. 1223 relating to Unfair Discriminatory-Practices with
the exeption listed above.
2. The representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center in the Senate
and House of Representatives are herewith urged to work for the adoption of this
legislation.
3. The Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to
the Governor of the State of Minnesota and Representatives of the 32nd Legislative
District, the Chairmen of the appropriate legislative committ es.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Earl Rydberg,
Howard Heck and Theodore Willard;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
