HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-038 CCR Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 69 -38 RESOLUTION APPROVING BY -LAWS OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER FIRE DEPARTMENT RELIEF ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, during the 1967 session of the Minnesota State Legislature, the City of Brooklyn Center sponsored a proposal entitled "AN ACT RELATING TO THE FIREMEN'S RELIEF ASSOCIATION OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER; PROVIDING CERTAIN BENEFITS FOR VOLUNTEER FIREMEN AND THEIR SURVIVORS; AUTHORIZING TAX LEVIES; PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE FUND and WHEREAS, the proposed Act was signed into law on May 24, 1967; and WHEREAS, the Act required the approval of the majority of the members of the City Council before the Act became effective; and WHEREAS, the City Council on June 12, 1967 enacted Resolution No. 67 -189 approving the provisions of the,Act and WHEREAS, the Act provides, among other things, that the by -laws of the Fire Relief Association and any amendments thereto shall not be effective unless approved by the City Council of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Fire Department Relief Association submitted to the City Council a draft of By -laws on February 26, 1968; and WHEREAS, since February 26, 1968, the Fire Department Relief Association and the Brooklyn Center City Council have negotiated a mutually agreeable set of by -laws: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to approve the By -laws of the City of Brooklyn Center Fire Department Relief Association as set forth in the most recent draft dated December 19, 1 8.
