HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-095 CCR Member john Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 69 -95 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HOUSE FILE NO. 487 REGARDING LEGISLATION ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC ORDINANCE PENALTIES WHEREAS, there is a need to establish a new classification for traffic ordinance violations; and WHEREAS, at present penalties of local ordinances must be identical with those of State Law; and WHEREAS, establishing a petty misdemeanor classification for traffic ordinance violations bons would ermi trial judge p 'u without a 'u Y J g jury; and WHEREAS, House File No. 487 would provide a maximum $100 fine for such petty misdemeanors and a maximum $500 fine for regular misdemeanors such as drunk driving, hit and run, reckless or careless driving, etc.: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The City Council supports and endorses the adoption of traffic ordinance penalties contained in House File No. 487 and the Representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center in the Senate and House of Representatives are herewith urged to work for the adoption of this legislation. 2. The Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Representatives of the 32nd Legislative District, and the Chairmen of the appropriate legislative c mittees T February 17, 1969 Date Mayes ATTEST: Q� 0 Deput Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Earl Rydberg, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
