Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 69 -102
RESOLUTION COMMENDING BROOKLYN CENTER CIVIL DEFENSE
MEMBER TACK VAUGHN FOR DEDICATION TO DUTY
WHERAS, Brooklyn Center Civil Defense member Jack Vaughn joined the
local Civil Defense organization in April, 1954 as a member of the Fire Rescue
Unit; and
WHEREAS, member Jack Vaughn was instrumental in raising funds and
otherwise promoting the acquisition of the Civil Defense heavy duty rescue
vehicle; and
WHEREAS, member Jack Vaughn served as Chief of the Civil Defense
Fire Rescue Unit from 1956 until 1967; and
WHEREAS, in his capacity as Fire Rescue Chief member Jack Vaughn
promoted and pursued an intensive training program for the Civil Defense
Fire Rescue Unit with the result that the Fire Rescue Unit is highly regarded
within the Hennepin County and State Civil Defense programs; and
WHEREAS, in ,1967 member Jack Vaughn was appointed by the local Civil
Defense Director to the position of Operations Officer in the Brooklyn Center
Civil Defense staff; and
WHEREAS, Jack Vaughn has maintained a keen sense of duty to the community
of Brooklyn Center and has contributed long hours of his time to the betterment
of the local Civil Defense program:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to express its sincere appreciation in commending
Civil Defense member Jack Vaughn for his long service and invaluable contributions
to the Brooklyn Center Civil Defense Department and to e community in which
he lives.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Earl Rydberg,
Howard Heck and Theodore Willard;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
