HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-283 CCR1 1 1 Member John Leary introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION TO ABOLISH SPECIAL CHECK CASHING FUNDS FOR THE MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORES WHEREAS, by past resolutions, special check cashing funds have been established for each of the municipal liquor stores to facilitate the cashing of payroll checks at the stores; and WHEREAS, these funds are maintained at the Brooklyn Center State Bank and are in the following amounts: Store 1 Store 2 Store 3 WHEREAS, the resolutions establishing the funds authorized the liquor stores manager to draw checks upon the funds in order to replenish cash for payroll check cashing; and WHEREAS, the liquor stores manager has recommended that the stores discontinue the practice of cashing checks other than those written for the amount of a purchase: BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. The practice of cashing checks at the municipal liquor stores for an amount other than those written for the amount of a purchase is hereby discontinued. 2. The special check cashing funds of the municipal liquor stores are hereby abolished. 3. The liquor stores manager is directed to close the special check cashing checking accounts at the Brooklyn Center State Bank and to return the funds to the Liquor Stores Permanent Fund. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be directed to deliver a certified copy of this resolution to the Brooklyn Center State Bank.
