Member Theodore Willard introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 68 -172
RESOLUTION REGARDING PLANNING COMMISSION APPLICATION
NO. 68006
WHEREAS, on February 16, 1968, Richard A. Rockstad of Lowry Realty
Company filed an application on behalf of a number of property owners for the
rezoning from R -1 Single Family Residence to B -2 Regional Business, that
property generally lying south of F.A.I. 94 and immediately east and contiguous
to Trunk Highway 152 and generally north of 65th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the matter was initially heard by the Planning Commission
on March 7, 1968 at which time the matter was comprehensively discussed
and tabled for final action at a future meeting; and
WHEREAS, Application No. 68006 was again considered by the Planning
Commission on April 25, 1968 at which time Planning Commission Resolution
No. 68 -2 was introduced and adopted, said resolution recommending that the
request for rezoning the various properties to the B -2 classification not be
approved; and
WHEREAS, the City Council heard the matter on May 13, 1968 at which
time residents of the subject area were present to express their views; and
WHEREAS, the applicant was not present during the public hearing, the
matter was tabled and deferred until later in the evening of May 13, 1968; and
WHEREAS, the applicant did not appear later in the evening, the City
Council acted to table Application No. 68006 due to the failure of a representative
of Lowry Realty Company to appear; and
WHEREAS, the matter was again considered by the City Council on July 8,
1968 at which time a representative of the Mobil Oil Company and P.D.Q. Company
discussed the application on behalf of Lowry Realty; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has duly considered the application and its
relationship to the Comprehensive Plan adopted on November 7, 1966:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, to deny Application No. 68006 as being inconsistent
with the goals of the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Brooklyn Center and
further, in recognition of the conflict which would exist with a proposed C -2
interface with an established R -1 neighborhood.

Resolution No. 68-172
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Earl Rydberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof; Philip Cohen, John Leary, Theodore
Willard, and Earl Rydberg;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
