HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-035 CCRMember Earl Rydberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 68 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR WATER TOWER PAINTING WHEREAS, the City Manager and City Clerk have reported that on January 29, 1968, at 2:00 o'clock P.M., C.S.T., they opened and tabulated bids received for cleaning and painting the exterior of one 500,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, and that said bids were as follows: Total Bid Price 1. Blaine Decorators, Minneapolis $3,450.00 2. Larson Tank Company, Minnetonka 4,500.00 3. Protective Coatings, St. Paul 4,770.00 4. Schumann Bros., Inc., St. Paul 5,230.00 5. Newmann Co. Contractors, Inc., Oak Lawn, Illinois 5,980.00 6. Watertower Paint 6 Repair Co., Inc., Clear Lake, Iowa 5,985.00 7. Rysgard 6 Masters Co. St. Paul 6,296.00 8. Allied Protective Coatings, Inc., Minneapolis 6,345.00 WHEREAS, the low bidder, Blaine Decorators, has never previous- ly undertaken the complete painting of an elevated water storage tank; and WHEREAS, elevated water storage tank painting is a highly spe- cialized field of painting requiring extensive experience in cleaning procedures and application of paint materials; and WHEREAS, the City Council feels a disproportionate risk would be involved should the contract be awarded to a contractor without elevated water storage tank painting experience; and WHEREAS, the bid proposal contains the words, "The Brooklyn Center City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive irregularities or technicalities in the bidding, and further reserves the right to award the contract in the best interests of the City and WHEREAS, the Larson Tank Company has an outstanding record of elevated storage tank painting. 1 RESOLUTION N.O. 68 -35 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the bid of Larson Tank Company in the amount of $4,500.00 as to furnishing of all work, labor and material in connection with cleaning and painting the exterior of one 500,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, accord- ing to the specifications therefor now on file in the office of the City Clerk, is deemed to be the best bid submitted for said work by a responsible bidder, and said bid is hereby accepted. ATTEST: February 5, 1968 Date The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Jo Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Earl Rydberg, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
