moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 68 -53
RESOLUTION INCREASING THE ASSESSMENT RATE
AND ESTABLISHING AN AREA ASSESSMENT POLICY
FOR CITY WATER IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has presented a report
dated February 15, 1968 and revised February 27, 1968, showing that
the present assessment rate of $490.00 per residential assessment is
now inadequate to support the construction costs anticipated in order
to complete the City water system in the City of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, the revised report further indicates that inequities
would result should the City fail to assess certain large tracts of
land on an area basis; and
WHEREAS, the revised report further estimates that an assess-
ment rate of $590.00 would adequately support construction costs for
the near future and further provide for adequate reduction of past
obligations as they relate to the present trunk main and supply
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the unit water assessment rate be increased to
$590.00 effective on all projects on which approved
petitions are received, or which are ordered by the
City Council, after January 1, 1969.
2. That an area equivalent rate of assessment in the
amount of $2.42 per 100 square feet of otherwise
unassessed area be approved for all non residential
projects assessed after March 1, 1968, in accordance
with current or future provisions of the City assess-
ment policy as outlined in the Assessment Manual.
