RESOLUTION NO. 67 -274
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY
I
WHEREAS, on January 17, 1966, the (then) Village Council designated
the law firm of James H. Johnston to serve as Brooklyn Center's Village
attorney; ne and

WHEREAS, the law firm of James H. Johnston has since provided legal
services to the City of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1967 James H. Johnston accepted an appoint-
ment as judge of Hennepin County Municipal Court; and
WHEREAS, a member of the James H. Johnston law firm, Richard J.
Schieffer, has served in the capacity of prosecuting criminal cases on behalf
of the City of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, due to the ascension of James H. Johnston to the Hennepin
County Municipal Bench, Johnston's legal service to the City of Brooklyn
Center i terminated; s er nated; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to designate an interim
City Attorney until such time as a comprehensive evaluation of the City's
legal service requirements can be made:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to designate and appoint the law firm of Richard
J. Schieffer as interim City Attorney to serve until such time as a comprehensive
evaluation of the City's legal service requirements is accomplished.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member john Leary and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Gordon
Erickson, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
