moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 67 -326
RESOLUTION TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 67 -300 AUTHORIZING
A TAX LEVY FOR 1968 BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS
WHEREAS, on October 4, 1967, the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center did adopt Resolution No. 67 -300 authorizing a tax levy for
1968 budget appropriations; and
WHEREAS, said tax levy resolution reflected as a revenue item a
shared tax in the amount of $23,867 from the State of Minnesota to replace
the loss of personal property tax revenue from personal property exempted from
taxation by the 1967 Tax Reform and Relief Act; and
WHEREAS, the Attorney General of the State of Minnesota did on
October 6, 1967 issue an opinion to the effect that the replacement for personal
property tax losses may not be considered as a shared tax revenue.
CONSISTENT THEREWITH, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that Resolution No. 67 -300 is hereby
amended to reflect an increase of $23,867 to the general property tax levy with
the result that:
1. There is hereby approved for expenditures in 1968 from general
taxes, the following sums for the purpose indicated:
City Operations and Administration 631,987
Poor Relief 7,000
Firemen's Relief Association 36,706
Employees' Retirement 76,567
Policeman's Pension 42,169
794,429
The foregoing does not include levies already certified to the
County Auditor for the payment of outstanding loans which levies
for the year 1968 are as follows:
Certificates of Indebtedness 23,633
r State Loan 1,545
Park Bond Redemption 32,000
Library Bond Redemption 17,200

2. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property lying within the
City of Brooklyn Center, in addition to all levies heretofore certified
to the County Auditor as indicated in paragraph 1 hereof, the sum of
$794,429, and the Clerk shall cause a copy of this resolution to be
certified to the County Auditor, so that said sum shall be spread upon
the tax rolls and will be payable in the year 1968.

The motion for the adoption of he foregoing resolution s p t o going olution wa duly seconded by
member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Gordon Erickson, Howard
Heck and Theodore Willard,
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
