HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-026 CCR Member Theodore Willard introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 67-26 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING REVISION OF THE IMPLIED CONSENT LAW WHEREAS, the damage and destruction caused by persons driving while under the influence of alcoholic beverages is intolerable in civilized society and detrimental to the welfare of each individual; and WHEREAS, the present provisions of the "implied consent law" are inadequate, and difficult to administer; and fail to achieve the purpose sought through enactment of the law; and WHEREAS, the League of Minnesota Municipalities has adopted a resolution urging modification of the law to lower the blood alcohol content requirement to a reasonable level and revision of requirement to permit more effective enforcement of the law: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The City Council endorses and supports the proposals to amend the "implied consent law" embodied in Senate File 22, House File 24, Senate File 23 and House File 25, and urges the representatives from the 32nd District to work for the adoption of this legislation. I 2. The Clerk is hereby instructed to direct copies of this resolution to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, the representatives from the 32nd District and the legislative committees concerned with such legislation. February 6, 1967 P Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Gordon Erickson, John Leary and Theodore Willard, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
