HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-059 CCR I Member Theodore Vuillard introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 67 -59 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE PARK BOARD GENERAL FUND WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center did on April 28, 1954 by ordinance establish the Park Board and Public Recreation Commission; and WHEREAS, a Park Board General Fund was established to account for the financial activities of the Park Board; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center did on January 10, 1966 by ordinance amendment create a Park and Recreation Advisory Commission and abolished the existing Park Board and Recreation Commission; and WHEREAS, said ordinance amendment did clearly establish the Commission as an advisory body to the Village Council; and WHEREAS, the complete authority and responsibility for administering the financial activities of the Park Fund does now rest with the City Council; and WHEREAS, therefore, there is no longer any apparent need for a separate Fund to account for Park financial activities; and WHEREAS, maintaining separate accounting for the Park Fund causes unnecessary record keeping; and WHEREAS, consolidating the Park Fund into the General Fund as an operating Department of the General Fund would provide for a more efficient operation: NOW THEREFORE, b e Council f e O BE IT RESOLVED y the City C unc o the City of Brooklyn Center that the City Manager be directed to close the bank account of the Park Board General Fund and transfer all accounts of the Park Board General Fund, including assets, liabilities and surpluses to the City of Brooklyn Center General Fund retroactive to January 1, 1967. March 6, 1967 Date G Mayor ATTEST: :dry Clerk Resolution No. 67 -59 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member john Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, john Leary, Howard Heck, Gordon Erickson and Theodore Willard, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
