RESOLUTION NO. 67 -70
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LEGISLATION PERMITTING
MUNICIPALITIES TO PURCHASE INDIVIDUAL ANNUITY
CONTRACTS
WHEREAS, the League of Minnesota Municipalities has adopted a
resolution supporting legislation which would permit municipalities to
purchase individual annuity contracts for employees in lieu of current
salary; and
WHEREAS, this manner of compensation has proved to be highly
desirable in school administration, and would provide to municipalities
an increased flexibility in personnel administration, and would further
aid in the recruitment of qualified personnel:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Brooklyn Center as follows:
1 The City Council endorses and supports the adoption of
Senate File 587 and House File 1224 relative to the purchases of
individual annuity contracts by municipalities, and the repre-
sentatives of the people of Brooklyn Center are herewith called
upon to work for the adoption of this legislation.
2. The Clerk is hereby instructed to transmit copies of this
resolution to the aforementioned representatives, the Hennepin
County Legislative Delegation, the Governor of the State of
Minnesota and the chairmen of the appropriate legislative
committees.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Theodore Willard and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary,
Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard
and the following voted against the same: none
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
