HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-092 CCR Member Gordon Erickson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 67 -92 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF SENATE FILE 1016 HOUSE FILE 1220 AND URGING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS THERETO WHEREAS, Senate File 1016 House File 1220 is a bill for an act which would substantially alter the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 122 commonly known as the "Watershed Act and WHEREAS, the provisions of the current statute are virtually unworkable in developed and developing urban areas, although the problems of water conservation and flood control in such areas are of major significance; and WHEREAS, the amendments set forth in the aforementioned bill would, if slightly revised, substantially increase the utility of the Watershed Act in meeting water conservation and flood control problems in urban areas; and WHEREAS, the revisions to the bill which are required to make the Watershed Act workable in fact are as follows: 1. Revision of Sections 13 and 14 of the bill to establish a maximum dollar limit for the annual administrative levy, in addition to the two mill limit proposed. 2. Revision of Section 8 of the bill to require meetings of the managers to be held within the district, or if facilities are not available, the meetings to be held at some location designated by the Water Resources Board. 3. Revision of Section 10 of the bill to retain the wording "together with the names of the owners thereof, so far as known;" 4. Revision of Section 19 of the bill to require that the preliminary feasibility study and report be prepared and submitted by a registered engineer, rather than allowing the managers to have the report prepared by "some (other) competent person of its selection." Resolution No.67 -92 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The City Council supports the adoption of Senate File 1016 House File 1220 with the aforementioned revisions, and the representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center are herewith called upon to work for the adoption of this legislation. 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the aforementioned representatives, the Governor of the State of Minnesota, the Hennepin County Legislative Delegation, the authors of the bill, and the chairmen of the appropriate committees.
