RESOLUTION NO. 67 -93
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE INTRODUCTION OF LEGISLATION
WHICH WOULD PERMIT THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER TO ISSUE
LICENSES TO PRIVATE PARTIES FOR THE ON -SALE DISPENSATION
OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHILE RETAINING A MUNICIPAL OFF-
SALE FACILITY
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances of Brooklyn
Center are such that adequate control over the sale and consumption of
alcoholic beverages within the City would best be accomplished through the
granting of licenses to private parties to permit on- premise sale and consumption
of alcoholic beverages (in hotels, motels and restaurants) with distribution of
alcoholic beverages for consumption off premise to be accomplished through a
municipal liquor dispensary; and
WHEREAS, the existing state statutes pertaining to liquor control do
not permit the aforementioned mode of control and regulation:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Brooklyn Center that the representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center
in the Senate and House of Representatives be, and hereby are, requested to
introduce in the 1967 session of the Minnesota Legislature special legislation
which would permit the City Council to issue private on -sale licenses to hotels,
motels and restaurants, and retain the existing municipal off -sale dispensary,
said licenses to be issued only after the question is approved by the voters of
the City at a regular or special election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to transmit
copies of this resolution to the representatives of the 32nd Legislative District,
and other members of the Legislature as may be appropriate.
