HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-093 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 67 -93 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE INTRODUCTION OF LEGISLATION WHICH WOULD PERMIT THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER TO ISSUE LICENSES TO PRIVATE PARTIES FOR THE ON -SALE DISPENSATION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHILE RETAINING A MUNICIPAL OFF- SALE FACILITY WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances of Brooklyn Center are such that adequate control over the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages within the City would best be accomplished through the granting of licenses to private parties to permit on- premise sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages (in hotels, motels and restaurants) with distribution of alcoholic beverages for consumption off premise to be accomplished through a municipal liquor dispensary; and WHEREAS, the existing state statutes pertaining to liquor control do not permit the aforementioned mode of control and regulation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center in the Senate and House of Representatives be, and hereby are, requested to introduce in the 1967 session of the Minnesota Legislature special legislation which would permit the City Council to issue private on -sale licenses to hotels, motels and restaurants, and retain the existing municipal off -sale dispensary, said licenses to be issued only after the question is approved by the voters of the City at a regular or special election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to the representatives of the 32nd Legislative District, and other members of the Legislature as may be appropriate. i April 3, 1967 4�� Date r Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, John Leary, Gordon Erickson and Howard Heck, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
