HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-094 CCR Member Gordon Erickson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 67 -94 RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING AMENDMENT OF HOUSE FILE 1661 PERTAINING TO HOME RULE CHARTER COMMISSIONS, AND SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF THE AMENDED BILL WHEREAS, the League of Minnesota Municipalities has adopted a resolution calling for modification of the procedures and rules applicable to home rule charter commissions, which modifications are set forth in House File 1661; and WHEREAS, the City Council is in agreement with the objective of the bill, that being to streamline the procedures and process by which home rule charters are adopted and amended; and WHEREAS, the City Council supports the specific provisions of the bill, with the exception of the provision which would remove the freeholder requirement for charter commission membership, and therefore it is recommended that the bill be amended to retain the freeholder requirement: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the representatives of the people of Brooklyn Center be, and hereby are, requested to work for the amendment of House File 1661 as outlined above, and thereafter, work for the adoption of the amended bill. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to the representatives of the 32nd Legislative District, the Governor of the State of Minnesota and the chairmen of the appropriate legislative committees.
