Member John Leary introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 66 -260
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MEMBERSHIP IN THE
METROPOLITAN SECTION OF THE LEAGUE OF
k MINNESOTA MUNICIPALITIES
WHEREAS, the inter governmental problems of the Twin Cities
Metropolitan area have substantially increased with the dynamic growth
of the area's population and economy; and
4 WHEREAS, satisfactory resolution of these problems can be
accomplished only by cooperative action between the many governmental

agencies in the metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the League of Minnesota Municipalities, which has been
a highly effective organization in meeting the problems of municipalities
throughout the State of Minnesota, has proposed the formation of a
Metropolitan Section of the League, the objective of said Metropolitan
Section being, in part, to promote inter governmental cooperation and to
assist in the development of solutions to the variety of problems confronting
municipal government in the area:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the
Village of Brooklyn Center that the by -laws of the Metropolitan Section
of the League of Minnesota Municipalities adopted by the Metropolitan
Affairs Committee of the League on June 8, 1966 are hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village of Brooklyn Center join
the Metropolitan Section of the League of Minnesota Municipalities commencing
in the membership year of 1966 -1967, with payment of dues to be made in
accordance with the above approved by -laws.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in no event shall the membership of
this Village in the Metropolitan Section become effective until at least
twenty -five eligible municipalities representing a majority of the aggregate
population of all eligible municipalities have approved the by -laws of the
Metropolitan Section and have agreed to pay the prescribed dues for the
1966 -67 membership year.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Earl Simons and upon vote being taken thereon the
following voted in favor thereof: Earl Simons., john Leary and Howard Heck,
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
