HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-098 CCRMember Jerzak introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO.2025-98 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER AND HENNEPIN COUNTY WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59, the City of Brooklyn Center (CITY) and Hennepin County (COUNTY) each political subdivisions of the State of Minnesota, are authorized to enter into agreements for the exercise of joint powers by one or more governmental units on behalf of the other; and WHEREAS, CITY and COUNTY entered into Joint Powers Agreement No. A2412455 for one (1.0 FTE) Police Embedded Social Worker serving the Brooklyn Center Police Department; and WHEREAS, COUNTY has provided Amendment No. 1 to extend funding through calendar year 2026 and set the not -to -exceed CITY payment at $88,431 for January 1, 2026— December 31, 2026, with no change to the 2025 amount; and WHEREAS, continuation of the PESW program strengthens CITY's response to behavioral -health calls, improves service connections for residents in crisis, and supports efficient use of police and other city resources. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the Mayor and City Manager be and hereby are authorized to execute the Amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement attached hereto on behalf of the City of Brooklyn Center.
