HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-009 CCR Member Theodore Willard introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 66 -9 RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE DESIGN OF CERTAIN SIGNS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ADVERTISING BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the Village Council believes that the populace of the metropolitan area does not generally recognize Brooklyn Center as to its location, size and extent of development; and WHEREAS, it is the belief of the Council that this lack of recognition is detrimental to the timely and full development of the community; and WHEREAS, it is further the belief of the Council that one action which would promote such recognition is the erection of signs on major arterial streets and highways upon which traffic enters Brooklyn Center, said signs being readily visible day and night, proclaiming the fact of entry into Brooklyn Center, and state or illustrate, as may be determined feasible, a motto or fact which would tend to encourage or promote development within Brooklyn Center, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center that the Administrative Staff, in cooperation with the Industrial Development Commission and Chamber of Commerce, be in- structed to prepare and submit for Council approval, designs and drawings depicting proposals for appropriate signs for future purchase and installation at sites to be recommended jointly by the Administrative Staff, Industrial Development Commission and Chamber of Commerce. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the design and installation of said signs be scheduled to coincide with, or follow closely, the time at which the Village of Brooklyn Center becomes the City of Brooklyn Center. anua 1 T ry 0, 1966 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Earl Simons, john Leary, Howard Heck and Theodore Willard and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
